RIP JB, you got old
Cub Skills Day
The crew spent a few hours teaching Cub Scouts a variety of knots and lashings. Evan, John S., Bella and Mackenzie all attended the event and spent a few hours in Grover Cleveland Park demonstrating the skills we learn every meeting.
West Caldwell Historical Society Christmas Ornament Making
The crew replaced their regularly scheduled broadcast with a service opportunity at the West Caldwell Historical Society’s Crane House. There Mackenzie, Matthew C., John S., Bella, Evan, Ashna and Pauline accompanied by Mrs. Brown, Nora and Mrs. Rogacki worked to make Christmas decorations under Mrs. Cass’ direction.
Law Enforcement Weekend 2019
Tyler, Matt C. and Pauline attended the Law Enforcement Day and Weekend at beautiful Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco accompanied by Mr. Brown and Mrs. Rogacki. They thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities they had to go shotgun and pistol shooting as well as the beautiful hike they went on.
Mackenzie’s Summit Project
The crew’s very own Mackenzie held the work sessions for her Summit Project. The Northern New Jersey Council has only had one Summit recipient in the past and if Mackenzie perseveres, not only will she be the second with this distinction, she will be the first in the crew. After helping to put together raised garden beds and staining them, building benches and spreading river bed stones the crew was quite exhausted, but very happy to have helped their own get closer to her goal.
Backpacking 2019
The crew went backpacking on the Appalachian Trail and started not far from High Point then moved towards Culver’s Gap. On the way the venturers passed by the pavilion on top of Sunrise Mountain where we had a great view! After a total of 15 miles Jean-Baptiste, Bella, John S., Matt W. and Evan accompanied by Mrs. Rogacki and Mr. Brown (Evan’s father) although tired and ready to go home were quite happy with their accomplishment. The crew looks forward to returning to the trail.
New Jersey State Fair 2019
Bella, Andrew and Jean-Baptiste accompanied by Matt, Nora, Mr. and Mrs. Brown went hiking from the Buttermilk Falls to the Appalachian Trail. After this high-altitude excursion the crew then went kayaking on Culver Lake and finished the day by visiting the Sussex County Farm & Horse Show.
Seabase 2019
The crew sent 6 venturers and 2 adults down to the Bahamas to partake in the Seabase Sailing Adventure! Coached by Captains Jean-Claude and Ellen our intrepid venturers learned how to sail, how to snorkel and spent many hours enjoying the island life. Aboard Kiskedee Mackenzie, Ashna, Bella, John S., Matthew W., Jean-Baptiste, Dr. Aucoin and Elena learned all about the great joys and catastrophes of life at sea.
